afe intake for 4.8is ....

which filter is better; oiled one or dry one? Thanks guys.

Both work very well.. The oiled one can be cleaned and re- oiled for future use whereas the dry one needs to be replaced. It's your choice, both work perfectly fine in our X5s.

It shows on the afe web site that it can be cleaned and reused. This is the "dry S" filter.

I think it's not an easy answer. I'm sure the two kinds work very well. I heard of oiled ones damaging HFM's, but is it a myth?

Failure of a MAF sensor is a myth. A MAF sensor is only likely to fail if some was to overoil their filter after cleaning. Out of the box, K&N, aFe, and other pre-oiled filters come with the correct amount of oil. User error causes the MAF to fail.

Any experienced feedback on oiled vs dry filters?

The "dry S" version has been on my car for about a year now. Very happy with it. I've cleaned it once (just rinsed it with water) and it works/looks like brand new again.
