Bluetooth Question
 

I have a 2006 X5 and have a question about the bluetooth.

Has anyone figured out how to disconnect the bluetooth pairing when you want to get out of the car? If I am on the phone when I get to my destination, the hands free continues even after I shut the engine off, take out the key, and lock the doors! I have to tell whomever I am talking to to wait while I walk out the bluetooth range, which can be pretty far away. It is rather annoying. I had added an aftermarket bluetooth kit to my old 2000 528i and it disconnected when I turned the engine off, which was perfect.

There must be a simple way to disconnect the pairing so I can use the phone normally! If you know the secret, please advise.

Most phones allow you to turn off Bluetooth during a conversation. Just disconnect the connection from the phone.

Yes, I can do that with my Motorola Razor, but it is about a 7-step process. My PDA phone makes it much easier but I don't carry that all the time. I am hoping for a button on the radio or steering wheel that will cause the disconnect without hanging up.

Back when I had a Razr I simply set up Bluetooth as one of my smartkeys. Getting to that was a simple keystroke away once I did that.

If you have a Razor, you should have one of the soft keys that shows "options" while the phone is connected. If you click on that key, you can choose to discontinue bluetooth or change audio source, which lets you listen and talk through the phone. It is a real quick process, I use it all the time to change from bluetooth to the handset while driving.

I have confirmed that there is an easier way to drop the bluetooth connection on the RAZR that what I previously thought.
