Stock Radio Dead

New here, hopefully I am posting this in the right location. Never had any trouble with the stock stereo in my 2001 4.4 X5 but yesterday I got in and the stereo did not work. The stereo lights up like it is working but no sound. Any ideas from the X5 faithful.

the power from the headunit comes from an amp.

I would have to say check the amp fuse.

sounds like a dead Amp, or check the fuses in the back above the Sub.

The fuses seem fine, it may be the amp where is the best place to go for a replacement? Don't plan on having her to much longer can you find these on ebay ofr does any body out there have on sitting around that they would like to sell. Don't know what #'s on the unit would be used to find a replacement. thanks

Do you have DSP?

Either way I am sure you can find them on ebay or ask in the "looking to buy section". Some members replaced their entire factory systems and might still have the amp.

Try pulling the head unit and then reconnecting. Also check all the wiring in the trunk in case water got in.

By "head unit" do you mean the amp itself"

I think he means the actual radio in the dash

That's correct. Sometimes it cures all sorts of funny problems and is very easy to pull.
