For those of you who had your instrument cluster replaced at the Dealer, how much did they charge you for labor to install it? I am dropping my truck of tonight, bmw is picking up the cost for a new instrument panel but i have to pay for the labor......thanks guys.

From memory I think most report around the hour including programming.
|
Beleive the 1-1&1/2 hour timeframe is correct for the 'program' BMW has to fix this problem.
Just as an aside, has anyone had problems with the pixels on the radio/computer screen? Is there a similar 'program'? Mine are showing signs of failure. Thanks! |
Look up the post that named the young lady at BMW NA who looks after such things and give her a call.
If not, look through "Roundel" as there are 2 or 3 places offering a repair for less than new replacement. |
My dealer done it in 25/30mins!
|
Over here they charge by the "book" labor rate.
|
Yeah they do here too! But still only took them 25/30 mins and I only paid £20uk!
|
Just to give, a bit of non-useful info. I can remove an X5 speedo cluster myself in about 4/5mins, and thats doing it correctly and without scuffing any of the dash.

Dealer charged me 145.00
|
Dealer charged me one hour ($95) for the insturment cluster replacement last February.
I suspect that those who are a loyal customer tend to get better deals (i.e the guys who get charged for half hour of labor). I bought my X5 used and had never done business with my local dealer, so I got the 'guy off the street' price. |
