A/C Quit blowing cold

I have a serious question, my a/c just quit blowing any cold last wednesday and i live in phoenix, well actually avondale, AZ. where its been routinely in the triple digits. I had it checked for freon and pressure and they were both fine, made sure my temperature was at 60 degrees and everything else i could think to test and check and found nothing out of the ordinary. Has anyone had this problem or know of a simple diy before i have to take it to the dealership and get "raked over the coals"?

Most likely, you need to replace the Final Stage Resistor... I have had mine replaced twice. The last time my a/c went out, they had to replace the "core", which entailed removing the entire dash. That repair cost ~ $2,900.00 (Had extended Warranty). Try the FSR first !

Thanks, now my next question is i thought that just wouldnt let you control your ac/heater temps. not keep it from blowing cold. if it may be it then where would i get one and go about replacing it?

If the blower has quit then change out the FSR. You can get them on e-bay or at the dealer or some of the on-line parts suppliers. There is a DIY article on the home page.
If it blows but not cold and the pressures/freon level is OK then check the fan in front of the radiator works. If not you may need a relay or fan.

Yes it blows but not cold and i had the pressure/freon checked and they were both good, where would the relay be at to check after the fan?

Behind the radiator as shown.

FYI, one time when mine blew warm air but fan speeds were fine, replacing the FSR did the trick.

Im having a few probs w my 2001 4.4i too. Fan quit completely, was the resistor...replaced and now blows again. It also blows warm sometimes at idle...was told I had a bad auxiliary fan, which I believe is the one in front of the radiator. About 800 to replace, trying to decide if I should try replacing it myself. I will try looking at the relay for the fan first...maybe that's the prob.
