The 20's are not balanced correctly or you have a bent rim. If the rim is bent they should have of course found this when balancing. Either way the balance is off on the 20's - go back to the same shop or go somewhere else and have them check it.

Are you're rims hubcentric (do they fit tight on the center of the hub) if not the wheel will wobble like crazy and shake you're teeth out. If not get hubcentric rings.

yes they are mate, they fit the hub great but ive not had the rear wheels balanced just the fronts?????//

I have the same problem, but my wobble is VERY slight. I usually feel it only at lower speeds. I tend to think that it is attributed to the road and bumps in the road. I have the same size 20' rims on my X5. I also feel like it is not a constat thing, but happens occasionally......

I have never had my wheels balanced. Do you think I should??

RHYS57 09-06-2007 11:47 AM

could do mate, ive got the same problem as you its only very slight between 40mph and 55mph but it should be right i would have thought?

are yours gen bmw wheels?????????

Ding Ding Ding. Your Replicas are slightly bent. This is a common problem with replica wheels.

Try balancing them WITHOUT the tires mounted.

midwesterner 09-06-2007 02:06 PM

Wow this looks like its going to be a royal pain in the rear since I already have the rims and tires mounted on the X5. So I would have to first unmount the tires and then have each rim balanced?? I suppose I could go to any decent tire shop, correct?

I should not have purchased replicas.............:bawling:

Yes, you should go to a decent tire shop. Just do one wheel. Based on those results you should be able to predict the behavior of the other 3.

Good luck.

thanks I appreciate the help. Its funny, I asked my wife if she has ever noticed the steering wheel shake slighly at low speeds and she said no....I guess this seems to be a intermitent problem....

Thanks again
