Warranty Direct SecureCare+ experience???

is it true bumper to bumper coverage as they advertised? please tell me your experiences using this coverage. they quoted me a very good plan for my car which i will buy once my originial warranty expires (another 6 months or so) i read the list the list what is not covered but just want to have an idea of real life experiences before i decide to go with them. thanks for input.

chilliwilli 09-07-2007 02:32 PM

I advise that you select whichever plan you think you'll need and makes sense considering your driving habits and use. Can't recall exactly which coverage I signed up for but without it, I wouldv'e paid about $4,000 USD for recent repair work. Instead, I paid around $800 out of pocket. I never even spoke to them once...the dealer handled everything.

I almost bought the same plan. I went to BMW of sterling and told them that I just wanted the maintenance warranty and that I was going through warranty direct for around $3200 for 4 yr 100,000 miles. The Finance guy went and talked to his boss and he came back and said they would give the the BMW 6 yr 100,000 warranty from BMW not their 3rd party people for $3K. SO now my 03 with 36K miles on it is covered for 6 yrs 100,000 for everything for around 5K including taxes. I didnt buy the car from them either I bought from 3rd party. I just thought I would let you know. It may be worth a shot going into them and asking!!!

The 6yrs 100k BMW warranty and extended maintenance does not cover EVERYTHING. The 6yr 100K warranty is similar to CPO program.

You still have great coverage but don't want you to be shocked..

i dont think you are talking about extended warranty, but extended MAINTENANCE warranty, so if you paid 3K for that, then you were screwed by the dealer... and absolutely not the 2OP warranty since you're not the original owner of ur X.... you might want to clarify with your dealer what you have...

jayjay_dee 09-07-2007 03:55 PM

just want to let you know that im in the same boat here, looking/researching for 3rd party extended warranty.... right now, im considering Warranty Direct and GE, i just need to visit JMK-BMW here in dirty jerzee and speak with them about GE (which can only be bought from dealers, not on the internet)...

i will let you guys know the outcome.. prolly next week...

NOVAX5 09-07-2007 04:23 PM

Warranty Direct SecureCare+ sounds good to me, they quoted me $2500 for bumper to bumper coverage including airbags. they list the things that are not covered under this plan, it sounds every reasonable. They work with BMW dealer in my area too. They have all other coverages too which cover only the big ticket items and some. But i rather pick the full bumper to bumper coverage to have a peace of mind. And that i am talking about is 4yrs/85k miles since my car has very low mileage 25K miles and i dont drive this car a lot, i dont want to spend extra money for miles i wont use. They say, basically this plan is about 90% similar to factory warranty except for wear and tear some some manual transmission stuff which i dont have on my car. what do you guys think?

Maintenance warranty 6yr/100,00= $1895
6 yr/ 100,000 bmw extended factory warranty = $3K.

Make sure they do work with your BMW dealership. he guys at Warranty Direct says they work with them all but when I went and talked to 2 service adivisors and the finance guy at Sterling they only work with their 3rd party warranty company. They said most in the area are that way as well. So I would make sure you talk to fairfax!!

yeah i thought the same thing when I was there, but I guess they would rather hook it up for 3K and get a total of 5k from me then let me go take my business else where. He gave me the whole shpeal of "we try to take care of our customers and try to save them money when we can crap...."

i was already envy of you... your SA must be either deaf or not paying attention to you when you were there :loco:

wow, warranty direct is getting a lot of business from x5world members, we should ask them for a group discount or something...

NOVAX5 09-07-2007 05:49 PM

jragan11, please elaborate a bit more about your situation at sterling when you bought the extended warranty. is there any specific person i should talk to at sterling? you are not the orignal owner right?

Well I just went over there and was refunded my 3k plus taxes. There is nothing they can do since I am not the orig owner. I even called BMW of America customer service. So it looks like I am in the same boat as you. I am back to looking at Warranty Direct and debating whether or not to do the secure plan or big ticket!!!:explode:

motordavid 09-07-2007 08:04 PM

I have rambled on in several past postings, with my opins
on extended warranties: in a nutshell, it is a somewhat
pricey ins. policy that offers protection and a safety net
for these beasts. If you don't have to use it, they win;
if you get some thing(s) covered during the policy period
you will probably be ahead, fwiw.

One can argue to skip it, "bank the dough", (which no one
does), or just pay up when it's ball breaking time. I will not
persuade anyone to cough up for any Ext Warr., "just to be
covered".

However, if you do feel it's an ok/good/better bet:
then grab either the BMW 2OP coverage, (which is not as
inclusive as the oem coverage and, only available to orig. owner),
or, a BMW CPO covered used car, (both 2OP & CPO are basically
the same coverage),
or, cop a 3rd party Ext Warranty.

Several of us here have Warr.Direct and some of us have used it
with good results. The myriad list of other 3rd party warranty deals
are not as well known and few here have the experience in using
such. Do your own DD...A Stlr telling you that "such and such" is
not accepted/sucks, is their choice but, is disingenuous at the least
and typical stlr bs, imo. There are other stlrs in most metro areas
and privateers that will gladly take a 3rd party warranty. These cars
break but this is not a freakin Ferrari or rocket ship...fixable.

As to the levels of coverage, even WD and the other few legit programs
change their offerings weekly/monthly as the actuarial tables get filled
with repair data/history, so what I bought 2+ years ago is not the same
program(s) any one offers today.

Do you own DD and if you choose one, cut the fookin hand wringing,
understand that you are "covered" for most crazy crap and go drive the
sumbitch and enjoy the ride.
My FiftyCent is up in the ol'Juke Box...

UPDATE:

went to the dealer just this morning and here's what i found out...

1. They still somehow try to enroll you to the 2OP warranty even if you are not the original owner, if they know the original owner of your BMW, lets say you buy it from the dealer, so they would have a more detailed history of your X.. bad for me, they cant find who the original owner was.
PRICE = $3875 2yr/100Kmiles

2. Asked them about GE-AWS, they only offer the 5-star plan (on the internet, GE has 5, 4, 3 star plans), simply because they dont arguments with the client come repair time, and 5-star covers almost everything on your car, of course except those maintenance stuff...
PRICE = $4593 3yr/100Kmiles, $5471 4yr/100Kmiles

3. Showed the SA my quote from Warranty Direct (much cheaper), and asked him if they would accept this warranty and said "Yes, why not"...
so this time, im really leaning on getting my extended warranty from WD.

and comes another question? LuxuryCare or SecureCare Plus?

By the way...forgot to mention that my coverage was with Warranty Direct. My SA said they were simple to deal with.

I have had an incredibly positive experience with Warranty Direct. Last repair was to replace an a/c core that would have cost me $2,900. They paid without question  .

chefwong 09-09-2007 11:37 PM

Your policy is also only as good as the SA / technician who handles the call with WD FWIW in my experiance.

I had a mixed experience with WD but this was the 1st time I used them when my water pump went south on me. Their customer service was rude as well....I emailed my *cs* issue to my sales rep who in turned CC another customer service manger who was going to call me re: my CS experiance. Never got a call back.

blondboinsd 09-10-2007 12:07 AM

The BMW warranty sucks, it's useless

NOVAX5 09-10-2007 02:02 AM

blondeboisd, sorry to ask you this, but do you think myspace is safe? i saw your signature that promotes myspace. hmm, never like it in the first place, lots of kids use it and get exposed to the world.lawsuits are piling up. its the matter of time myspace be brought down, or scaled down. they just dont screen registered member enough to make it safe. a lot of other sites that do the same stuff like myspace do screen out and delete violating profiles. not in the case of myspace. if you support fight of hiv, please support the fight of letting kids on myspace. i will much appreciate you if you feel the same way. one user less a day would make a difference.

NOVAX5 09-10-2007 02:13 AM

thank you for all your responses, i decide to go with WD securecare+ plan even though i still have plenty of time on my factory warranty, but the rep. told me the sooner i buy the cheaper the price. its a 4 years/85K miles plan, since my car has a very low mileage so (until) 85K miles would take care of me for the next 4 years. all i have to do is call in with the reference number (quote) 60 days before the bmw original warranty expires. i dont know if ever use it, i just want to be safe. my other car (the x) still has 2 years and 20K miles left on other third party company which only covers power train, and i never use it except for 1 roadside assistant call.

jayjay_dee 09-10-2007 10:25 AM

so how much were you qouted for the securecare+ plan?

chefwong 09-10-2007 05:19 PM

Nova -

I dunno if you may be Mistaken or the rep misquoted but yes, the rate does vary from the time of purchase - whether it be 2 years before the OE warranty or 2 days before the OEM warranty.

However, unless things have changed, I don't see how you can get a *firm* quote and just call 2 months prior to the OEM warranty expiring before buying that firm quote. The quote they give you is also factoring in how much mielage you have had on car at the *current* time, etc.

Also bear in mind, that if you buy a 4 year, 85K warranty and you still have let's say, 1 year left on you warranty, the 4 years is EFFECTIVE from the date it was purchased.

I would just call WD and make sure what all these things are clear to you....

IMO, I would buy it a few week shy of the warranty expiring. Alot can happen between now and then.....

vinuneuro 09-10-2007 05:29 PM

We had the LuxuryCare plan from warrantydirect until we sold our X. 95% of the claims were approved w/o a problem. The dealer had no problem with them as well. I recommend WarrantyDirect without hesitation. We definitely made FULL use of the warranty in our 01 from 50-87k miles.

...:iagree:

Buying one year(s) ahead of when you really want it/need it
to kick in, does not make fiscal sense to me.
