Weird problem , engine stalled again.
Hello everybody here, I'm using x5 3.0i auto 2001 115,000 km on board.
The engine's stalled at very low speed without any sign before. No splutter ,no shaking, gasoline > 50 L.Everything 's fine just power came out. I can start it again and suddenly without any problems. No service light indicator show. It's happened twice , about 4-500 km used apart and every condition's same. I go to the bmw shop and use obdII to scan and it show no error. http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/8...an10002tx5.jpg I've search the forum for engine stalled and have data for CPS, MAF but these defects 've error codes, right? Can anyone suggest me what can be the causes?, please. |
Yes it should show in your fault codes. The most common cause is a bad CAM position sensor or MAF sensor. I had stalling last week, brought to the dealer, it did not display any error codes, the technician said that its a small adjustment in the idle misture.

And how do they correct that? |
I don't quite understand it either but apparently there is an idle speed adjustment somewhere in the X and this what the adjusted. Check with your dealer.

It seem like the dealer take it out and clean it and re-install it.
But this should have shake body at idle speed, right? |
what does your X idle at with all the lights on and heater fan with the brake depressed? Does your idle fluctuate? Sometimes vehicles have problems that the on board computer will not recognize.

So sorry to post late, i didn't recieved notify e-mail yet.
Idle speed is very normal. But after search for awhile and nothing to loose, i decided to clean idle speed control at local shop. The outcome is that very dirty (but idle fine). And i hope the problem gone. Another unexpected gain is noise. There is a noise at left a pillar that no one known the cause. It comes usually at 1600 rpm, always not less or more than this. When the idle speed control is cleaned , the sound gone. |
