how do i install OEM 4.8 tips?
Just wondering how i do this or how much should i pay
|
What vehicle are you putting it on ?
Just take it to a shop that works with exhaust.....and have them cut tips/reweld tips that will fit and pop the 4.8 covers on. I see you're located in NY. Where in NY ? Metro or upstate ? |
i purchased stock 4.8 tips for my 01 4.4. the quad tips were cut off and the tips welded from the inside of the final placement. cost me75 each tip

Depending on what tips/exhaust you have on right now, some may just cut off the existing ones and reweld a slightly smaller tip to *tack* weld the covers onto.

1. Measure from the muffler to the end of the existing tip
2. OR hold the new tip where you want it and how far you want it sticking out 3. Mark the two existing exhaust pipes 4. Remove the exhaust off the vehicle 5. Cut the existing tips where you marked them 6. Temporarily put the exhaust back in place 7. With the vehicle raised, hold the new tip exactly where you want it and level 8. Have the welder spot weld it just to hold it in place 9. Remove the exhaust again and weld the tip on properly 10. Do the same for the other side! |
oo kkk i see my promblem was the back part over the exhaust so i have to take every thing apart pull the system out and cut it in the floor can i just cut it when is uo in the lift are i have to bring it apart

The 4.4i Sport has twin "Black Chrome" circular exhaust tips (or at least they do in the UK) which I understood were an interference fit ( ie not welded on).
I think you can fit OEM chrome tips in their place. Have a look at part # 18 307 549 766 ( Black chrome are #18 107 500 498). Should be a straight swap but you'll need to eat some cans of spinach to get your "old" ones off. I am about to do this & will report back. |
