HID replacement bulbs
I would like to change my stock HID bulbs to somthing a little brighter. I am having trouble sorting thru the mass of info regarding this lil' feat.......So I pose the questions to fellow X5ers: Is it true that the higher the K rating, the more blue/purple the light output will be; but as the K rating goes up, the actual light output will diminish?

There's an excellent article/link on the home page of X5world called HID tutorial. http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html |
Hey guys, well i changed my bulbs from stock to 6000k and finally now to 8000k. When i changed from stock to 6000k i did notice a difference but with the foglights on, its not that different. So i decided to ty out 8000k after to see the difference, and to me 6000k and 8000k are almost identicle when looking out the windshield, but the difference is more in the color of the projector itself! So conclusion, if you are changing the bulb for appearance then go for 8000k but if you want the most visiblilty and then you would have to use stock 4300k, but again, with foglights on, its a minimal difference. Imo i would change my next cars bulbs before they burnt out just because of the appearance the bulbs give (not ricey like a big cloud of light infront of the hood like you normally would see). Check out some of my pics in search and you will see 8000k. Hope that helps.

I just changed mine from stock 4300K to 6000K. The e60 is 4300K stock, the e53 is 6000K
