you cannot use any battery. http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/g...ernatives.html

it's located underneath the spare tire in the trunk. you will need to remove it

and they cost about $200 at the dealer. but will depend on dealer

I have a 01 4.4 and I sometimes have the same problem, the starter will turn but the engine wont start at the first try. I know my battery is strong so I wonder what it could be.

I never had this problem before just started couple days back.

What does this mean????
Another alternative to consider is the Optima,
especially if the vehicle sits for long periods of time between use.

My 2001 4.4 X5 does this once in a while.. Turn the key and it is dead, turn it back and it starts right up.. I would say it happens 1 every 6 weeks. Dealer looked at it a few times when the truck was new and could never figure it out
