Warranty Direct quote? Would you do it?

I got 2 quotes for coverage from Warranty Direct. My 2001 has 44,500 miles and I can get the following:

MajorCare Covers the most likely to fail “big ticket items” plus many others

Deductible
Term/Miles* Will expire on... Or when odometer
reaches... $0 $100
13 Months / 13,000 Miles 10/20/2008 57,500 Miles $2,300 $2,050
25 Months / 25,000 Miles 10/20/2009 69,500 Miles $2,766 $2,466
37 Months / 37,000 Miles 10/20/2010 81,500 Miles $3,361 $3,036

XtraCare Protects all 16 major components of your vehicle

Deductible
Term/Miles* Will expire on... Or when odometer
reaches... $0 $100
13 Months / 13,000 Miles 10/20/2008 57,500 Miles $2,570 $2,320
25 Months / 25,000 Miles 10/20/2009 69,500 Miles $3,108 $2,808
37 Months / 37,000 Miles 10/20/2010 81,500 Miles $3,834 $3,509

I'm leaning towards the 37 month coverage for either plan but the costs ! yikes. Looking for feedback from Warranty Direct or maybe another plan. I didn't have CPO coverage and only had a 6 mo wty from the selling dealer 2 years ago. So far nothing major but.....

How profitable/credit worthy is Warranty Direct?

A lot of these companies go bust.

Given the fact that your car is out of the factory warranty, it sounds pretty reasonable to me. I bought mine from WD about 2 years ago, but mine was still covered under the factory warranty at the time. At the time, my 2002 only had about 17k miles. I purchased their highest level package, added the additional navigation coverage and $0 deductible, and paid about $2,300 for an additional 4 years. Great value at the time.

I have had several claims with them, all handled by my SA at the dealer. I even used them to show up and change a flat tire when it was 110 degrees outside and I didn't want to do it :).

Here is what will really sell you on it. A few months ago my A/C went out. Well, it turned out that I needed to have the A/C evaporator replaced, which entailed removing the entire dash (13 hours labor). Total repair cost was $2,900 :wow:. They covered all but about $300 of the repair (misc. non-covered parts/labor), and I was very happy to pay it!

I figure they have now paid about $3,400 in repairs already, and I still have ~2 years left on my warranty.

Was it worth it for me? Oh hell yes!
Would I go with WD again? Without question!
Have their prices gone up a bit? Probably due to repairs like mine LOL

Just do it, it's wonderful peace of mind.

At the very least, if you're still not sure, take $3,000, put it in a separate liquid bank account, and leave it there to cover unexpected repairs :).

In summary, Warranty Direct is the ONLY extended warranty company I would trust given my stories, and others I have read.

I just purchased their secure plan their "bumper to bumper" for 4 yrs 100,000 with no deductible for my 03 with 37K miles. My orig warranty just expired. I havent used them yet but many users here have them and from what I have read they are all pretty happy with WD. I paid $3288 for my policy.

Late to this thread as I was viewing the inside of my eyelids when
the question was first posed late night...

I agree that WD is the way to go. Only the OP can decide/choose
which is better coverage for his own situ and what term/miles to
select. If you are really keeping your car a long time, go with longer
time frame; otherwise cover yourself for the time/miles you realistically
feel you will have it.
