Turning and Shutting Off

Hey All,

I don't know if this has been an issue with anyone else in the 53 forum, but the X is @ the dealer getting a program update to deal with a peculiar problem of the car shutting off after or during a sharp turn. It happened for the second time yesterday as I was making a hard left turn into the turn lane at a stoplight. It's has only occured in what I would describe as U-turn situations, i.e. slow sharp turning. The X shuts down completely and all the dash indicator lights illuminate. I just put the car in park and turned off the ignition, waited a few seconds and then restarted with no apparent issue. The service advisor said that it's an RPM issue and a software update was needed to fix the problem. So we'll see... I'll update after I hear from the shop.:dunno:

Yes, this issue has been discussed many times. Mine has done is a couple of times years ago.

Does anyone have a thread link for discussion concerning this issue? Thanks

The service advisor just called and said that the technician still hadn't "made a diagnosis." I dropped the X off at 7am and it's now 3:45pm. The garage was empty this morning and it's taken nearly nine hours before a phone call. I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this one. I'll let ya know.

Mine has done this exact same thing 3 times in the past few months, only when making very tight turns at slow speeds. I'll be interested to hear what they find on yours.

Any more word on this?

Update: The dealer reprogrammed the DME to fix the problem. According to the service ticket, they found SIB 125706 to fix the issue. So far everything seems to be good. I'll let ya know if it comes back up. Thanks
