MOST important accessory/option..

While contemplating selling the X and getting an E90, (and subsequently withdrawing the idea), I was wondering, what is the "MUST HAVE" accessory or option that you guys could just not live without?! Is it Nav, Pano, Running Boards, Xenons, etc..?

Ill start. Lets put it this way. I knew I liked the X before I drove it, and when I met my dealer for the first time to go on the test drive, I said "Excuse me for a minute", and came back with all weather mats in a complementary BMW bag.

She said, "Sir, You havent even driven the automobile yet!"...I told her, "It doesnt matter...This comes first!"

So, theres my $.02. I would die without them... :dunno:

NEXT?

LI_BIMMER 07-27-2005 09:29 PM

NAV! I waited to find the perfect X with NAV. I use it all the time and recommend it as a must for anyone! :D

That's a tough one... after having an e46 coupe for years, I had lots of time to contemplate what I REALLY wanted in my next Bimmer.

The No.1 would have to be Sport Package (incl. sport suspension as well as the fantastic sport seats!), but Nav is a close runner up for me.

I keep hearing "sport suspension/package" from a lot of people. Is this something that can be retro'd on or just have to go and get the ACSnitzer suspension setup to "replicate" the feel and tighten up the suspension?

dan_fitz 07-28-2005 10:16 AM

1- Heated steering wheel
2- Self dimming rear view mirror
3- Sunshades

I spent a lot of time researching vehicles and once you reach a certain price range the bells & whistles are pretty much the same. Yes the X5 has an amazing command of the road but so did the Range Rover. It, however didn't make the cut due to poor quality control history. Only the X and the Cayanne offered a manual transmission. For several reasons I couldn't even bring myself to the point of entertaining a Porsche suv/sav. So the X5 was not only the best choice it was the only choice for me.

powers1 07-28-2005 05:19 PM

Sports pack(with the leather sports seats)
Nav 16.9(so you can add dvd,tv++++ at a later date)
Sunshades for the rear cargo area
Running boards

Uh... actually servotronic (road speed-sensitive) steering is not available on the X5. :tsk: (It's an option on the X3) Engine speed-sensitive steering is standard on the X5. However, in real-world use, there's really not that much difference...

4.6is Ryder 07-29-2005 08:28 PM

NAV is definitely a must have. I refused to purchase another 50k plus BMW without it. Sure we have all gotten around for years without it, but with high gas prices and every road in Texas under construction, man I can't function without my NAV BABE......Phil

SILENTx5 07-29-2005 09:16 PM

1. nav
2. sports package
3. pdc
4. running boards (soon to be put on)
