Will Non-Adaptive headlight fit on Adpative headlight car? (not replacing core xenon)

I have an '04 X5 with adaptive xenon. The lens on the headlight is all scratched up and I would like to replace it with a non-adaptive headlight. I keep seeing non-adaptive headlights for $150 on ebay. Will they fit?

In other words, can I get part 63126940167 (left) and 63126940168 (right) instead of 63126940181 (left) and 63126940182 (right)?

I am aware that I would lose the adaptive capability if it fit and I'm only replacing the headlight. If I understand correctly, the actualy xenon lamp (ballast aka core) and Halgoen high beams/angel eyes don't come with the headlight assembly?

I'm sure the lighting will work. You'll just lose the adaptive xenon.

when the adaptives were stolen out of my '04 i was told that the computer would complain if i didn't replace them with adaptives.

So 1 yes and 1 no. I would hate for the OBC to complain each time I start the car.

I never got a straight answer. The prices are $960 versus $620 for the non-adaptive, and if you go on ebay they can be had for $150. Here is what Morristown says via email:

Quote:

1) if it is a leased vehicle you will not be able to return it with out the adaptive headlights in the car. 2) the cars computer is set up to recognize the adaptive headlights, if the non-adaptive headlights are installed then computer will not recognize it and a warning light will appear on the dash board. I don’t think there will be a noise so if can handle the flashing light then it will be ok.
Now I think there will be a noise despite what he says...you know that annoying chime when something goes wrong like a tail light.

sorry...THREAD JACK
What if it was the other way?

Does anyone know if its possible to use adaptive headlights into a non adaptive equipped x5? Just wondering if its possible to have functional headlights just not have the adaptive feature hooked up. Some friends have said its going to work, but has anyone ever done this?

Did you install non adaptive in adaptive?

I replaced my adaptive in my 2005 with non adaptive lights. No problems.
