Help with AFterMarket Stereo INstall

Hi

I am tring to install an after market Stereo in a 2001 X5 no navi. I got everything to come on from instructions found on this site. only problem is that i have no sound??? I connected all the speakers wires correctly but for some reason there is no sound? can someone please help?
