So i opened up the cluster last night, and threaded my own spring inside the temp gauge, and now the temp gauge is working!!! woohoo!!! only problem is that the needle is not 100% balanced, it idle's at 60% when its fully warm. Gonna open it up tonight and balance it to perfectly 50%.

THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE OVERLAYS CAN BE INSTALLED WITHOUT REMOVING THE NEEDLES. You would stretch it as you try to make it through the round circle on the center that holds the needles. Once it goes through it leaves marks around the hole of the overlay and will be a little obvious. I prefer black stock the way it is but i painted my needles red and it so much better, kinda like E46 ZHP. Woud not recommend it and can't beat the orginal 4.6 overlays!

true unless you have experience in doing this type of thing

i installed the overlays without removing the needles, the trick is to slide it over the needle part, then put it under the middle so you can slide over the other side.

yes it does. and paint can be removed easily since i just used a red marker. Something i learned from E46fanatics.com.

...I love doing this.....WRONG. ...If you read my earlier post and the link included on it, you'll CLEARLY read that it CAN BE DONE, WITHOUT INJURING THE OVERLAY OR THE NEEDLES....dumbass......;)

Bimmer360 12-08-2007 04:59 PM

i read it already, and couldnt take back my post, but no need for the DUMBASS word. I'll take it, but what goes around comes around, just wait until you make a mistake in your life and someone would call you much worst than that and you will feel so bad. Or, better yet, i hope you would stay healthy forever so you dont have to realize how you treat people so bad. Im sure i am not the only one you have called that! THAT IS TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR MR PERFECT!
