KICK STARTER NOT STOPPING

Seems daily now that my kick starter just will not stop. Put in the key, turn it on and you can hear the kick just rolling on. Neither will the engine fire up nor it stop for about 30 to 60 seconds before the vehicles fires up.

Trying to start again brings back the same issues.

Pls help as I cant bear to be without her for a day

Probably needs a new starter. You didn't state a year, or mileage on the car so it is hard to diagnose anything from the post.

I'm trying to understand. Does the engine crank and not start?

If yes you can either look throught the post "starting problems" I think it went to 12 pages. Or you can disassemble the the steering colum cover. disconncet the wire bundle from the starter switch and spray contact cleaner into the switch and on the contacts from the wire bundle.

Sounds like the same problem we had last year. My advice is the same. Clean the ignition switch in the steering column. Or, if you have a lot of spare time read the link above to the 12 pages of trouble shooting we all went through.

You need to put the key in position one. extend the steering column out and down. Pull the cover off the column. The connection is on the left side of the column. It is a big square plug. Disconnect it, look for any corrosion and spray contact cleaner or even WD-40 in both sides. Be careful with the contact cleaner because it will melt plastic.

In my case, just cleaning it lasted about a year. I then had to do it again. If you prefer to do it only once, replace the Ignition Switch (which is what I'll do if it happens again).

I had this problem occasionally. Also had variant where turn key and starter wouldn't "kick" at all. Replacing ignition switch fixed both.
