Caliper Replacement - Bleeding Air From ABS Control

I installed new calipers, pads and rotors recently. I did the front brakes a few weeks back and the rears this weekend. I bled all four this weekend but the rear brakes will not engage.

The brake fluid reservoir is full and there are no bubbles coming out of the brake lines. I am stumped. Anyone have any ideas????

1. Some cars have a perportioning valve between the front and rear brake lines. If the X5 has one you may have jammed it while bleeding the rear brakes?
2. The rear pads are not floating correctly?
3. You have not pumped the brakes enough to fully engage the piston?

What order did you bleed in?

I did the furthest brake first working toward the brake resevoir. I am wondering if the pistons are frozen.

I had the calipers rebuilt so that should not be the problem but I am not sure.....

Well, it is off to the shop!! Time to let the pro's take a look!! I'll let you guys know what the prognosis is.......

The shop (reputable Euro shop) got the rear brakes to engage. Now there is an issue with the pedal loosing pressure. There is no air in the brake lines. They are a bit stumped at what the issue is.

The "Can't Stop Me Now" saga continues........

How'd they get the rear brakes to work? If the pedal is losing pressure and there's no air in the line, the seal inside master cylinder might be bad.

Unfortunately it is not as simple as the master cylinder (wish it was!!). The shop is still baffled by my brake issues.

The indy shop does not have the diagnostic capabilities that the dealer has so it is off to the $tealer at $165 and hour!!!!!

The "Brakes Are Broken" saga continues.....

calipers rebuilt? which means you removed the calipers from the car. did you pinch off the brake hoses before removing the calipers. it's possible you got air into the ABS "controller unit"?

Nope, never knew I had to pinch off the ABS "controller unit". Damn!!!

What should the repair for that entail???
