Wanna fill up your wheel-wells with snow tires?
1 Attachment(s)
Here's a pic of the X with 265/70/17 DM-Z3 Bridgestone Blizzaks I bought from Tire Rack. They fit great, don't rub and the bigger diameter will keep my rpm's down. It kind of sucked to take off my 295/45/20's for the year but I'll be able to get those back on around April! It just started snowing here in the pic but I had to go out and try em right away! Have a great winter everyone!

Lambeau,
Looks TitZ! I like your summer setup, too; really fills in the wheel wells... I do not miss the snow, however. BR,mD |
do u have any pics of your 295s? i was thinking about getting some but not sure how big the side wall looks compared to 275/40/20.
TIA |

Hey those 265s look great! :beerchug:
I put 245/65R17 Blizzaks on those same rims you have for my winter setup. The 245s are a half inch bigger diameter than stock wheels. I wanted to go to the 265s like you did, but I wasn't sure if they would fit! But I see they will, so when the current set of Blizzaks wear out, they are getting replaced with 265s like you have. I feel your pain taking the summer rims off. :bawling: My 19s are sitting in a stack in the storage garage. Right next to my snowmachines! Heading to the Alaska Range this weekend to go riding. But those Blizzaks sure hook up in the snow. The X5 is a beast in the slick stuff. |
Why not use the 235/65/17 set up? I thought they say more narrow is better on the snow?? Someone correct me please..

Hello, I'm still new here, but I read the forum. We are about to buy a e53 from 2001, 4.4l. Where I live /Bulgaria/ the "roads" are full of dangers for any tire, even we have tarmac on them :). There are many not paved roads too. Thats why I need bigger than the original size tires. And I need them to be AT or MT tires too. Because of that I have one old Land Rover Discovery 1, Goodyear MT/Rs 32" on it and it goes well, but its slow and not good enough for longer trips + I have 2.5 years old kid. Disco is not a family car, more I use it for off road and hard core stuff. So my wife has Renault, small city car. Its not comfy, for me is so small inside, I can't find a place for my legs. Thats why we need family estate car, that have more ground clearance and can fit AT/MT tires. I find the X5 to be the best choice, but only if it can fit bigger tires. Now there is a Goodyear DuraTrac in 265 70 17 an that is the only article that I can find in the net, that makes me think thats possible. But here we have E53 after the face lift, and I'm going for the one preface lift. Is it possible? I can't ask no 1 else, so I hope it's no problem that I get that tread out few years after the last post.
