service before free maintenance runs out
I have one green bar remaining and 246 liters left (which is about 1100 miles). Unfortunately, my free maintenence runs out next week. Do you think the dealer would be receptive to covering the maintenence?

Dunno...it will really vary from dlr to dlr, and probably dependent
upon their 'tude and your relationship with them. If it's an oil change "green lights gone", you might be able to persuade them; if it's an Insp., I doubt it. Give them a call and do your best sales pitch... GL,mD |
Does everyone wait for the lights to come on befor oil change?
I'm from the old school every 3 to 5000 miles depending on type of oil. |
Dealers choice. Why don't you just purchase the extended maintenance for 100K and not worry about it?

I already have the 6 year 100K extension, which has been a great investment after brakes/rotors, services. I am hoping I can squeeze in one more service before next week when it expires. I made an appt for next week so let's see what happens.

So I took my X5 in for inspection one -- remember, it was the last day of my 6/100 maintenence warranty. Because it it had one green bar remaining, the bmw could not cover it.
So, I had him do it anyways for ~$340. He called me later to tell me that they will be replacing my rear brakes/rotors and one of the belts under the bmw maintenence program -- probably $1000 without program. I asked him if he can replace the ac belt in the process and will only be charged ~30 for the part and no labor charge. Also, they noticed torn cv boots, leaking water pump and a faulty coolant/termostat. Because I had an 3rd party extended warranty (again last day), looks like they are going to cover all of that too! Because the combined expense is likely to exceed $2500, they are sending an inspector to confirm while I drive around in a new 3 series loaner. Lesson is that you should take your car in for inspection I on your last day of warranty even if it is not time to. The strange thing is that they did not catch any of this stuff during my last oil service. The advisor said inspection I is much more detailed. Wow, extended warranty and extended maintenence came in very handy this time. Worth every penny. DP |
I brought my X5 in once, I had like two bars left, they did a "low mileage" service? Not sure what it entailed.
