Asheville,NC Area: New Indie Garage...

Since many of us have E53s with some increasing mileage, I wanted
to post this new Indie Garage for all of us Asheville,NC area fans; you
can count us on your thumbs, .

But, this new joint is first class, highly experienced in BMW, PCar and
MB work, always has several high end versions of those brands being
worked on, etc.

German Motor Werks of Asheville, NC
1274 Sweeten Creek Rd
Asheville,NC 28803
828-274-8930

Sweeten Creek Rd is Exit 51 off I-40, and the brand new, hospital clean
service ctr is about 1 1/2 miles South of I-40, on Sweeten Creek Rd.

Scott Spence is the owner/lead mechanic, the Other Scott is a BMW
trained Tech, Dwayne is the PCar/MB tech and Lisa is Scott's wife; she
rides one her Ducks to work on occasion, too!

I had the following done, at 62k miles:
-"60k" Insp. II; a very thorough inspection; they spent an hour+ going
over the car on a lift.
-New rear rotors & pads, (they were orig.)
-replace adjusting pulley, (it was getting very noisy on cold start)
-Manual trans and both diffs, R&R fluid with Red Line synth prods.
-Air Filter, vent micro filter, fuel filter
-New NKG plugs and plug wires
-8 Qts of Mobil 1 0W-40 and filter

$1240 out the door, inc. 43 bucks of tax, which seems very fair.

I coulda done much of that stuff myself, but this retirement gig is
very busy, time-wise.

I highly recommend this Indie Service biz for anyone in western NC.
Link is info on Scott's background vis a vis his bank pumping small
biz loans.

Glad you found a good place for your beast mD

What's your guesstimate for an indie price on this work (on a 4-cyl Honda):

- inspection (top off fluids, hoses, belts, brake pads, etc); road test
- replace rear main seal
- replace water pump
- replace belts (AC, P/S, Alt)
- replace timing belt + tensioner
- replace valve cover gasket
- oil and filter change

haigha, that should be around $500-600 labor and parts. I can recommend at least 5 places where you could easily get that work done on a Honda, wherever you are in TX. If you're in DFW, all the better.

Nice estimate. It cost me about $720 with the parts from my indie so you nailed it pretty well. I was just validating that it was a reasonable price (the Honda is the GF's car).
