SES Multiple Codes.
Threw a SES last night. Number of codes - Pedal Position Sensor Position 1. Brake/throttle pedal positions not possible. MAF and both pre-CAT O2 sensors codes.
I reset the codes and am waiting to see if they come up again. I remember somebody (But, of course, cannot find) posting about cleaning the throttle sensor with electrical contact cleaner and if it persists replacing the throttle pedal unit. I'm guessing the MAF might be dirty and cleaning it may take care of the MAF/O2 codes? |
Does anyone know if a new accelerator pedal needs to be coded to the vehicle?
|
Has anyone found a solution to the Pedal Position Sensor I threw the same code for my 2003 X5 E53
|
I had a new pedal fitted and a rubber air intake replaced as it was leaking. No problems since.
|
Did you have to get the pedal coded to the vehicle?
|
No. It drove a little rough for a few days until the ECU adapted for the new pedal then smooooth! Completely eliminated a small flat spot I had on take off.

In most cases a leak from any hose will give you a different fault codes that are not even related. For example, broken line from the crankcase breather valve will give you sevaral fault codes, this condition could throw different fault codes like the crank case sensor or 0174, 0369, 0172, and some more, perhaps you would even get the lights on for the ABS which is not even related to. Unfortunatelly, in this car once the computer DME gets other inputs that are different than a normal disfunction, it will give you unrelated codes.
Be advised that such tubing or lines connected to the crankcase breather valve are difficult to get to it. The complete replacement job will take you about five hours once you removed most of the components from the engine. I did it you can do it, just be patient and label avery part you remove, take pictures to help you putting things back specialy the connectors that are easy to misplace or forget were they go. Good Luck |
In this case it was a leak in the air induction hose between the MAF and the throttle body.
