2002 X5 3.0i. + X5World Newbie

Hi All,

I just took delivery of my 1st BMW X5 3.0i 2002. Please I have the following inquires to make about the car:

1. How does the alarm system works? How do you set it to go off if the car body is hit or a considerably large sound is made beside the car when parked?

2. How do you activate the internal motion sensor to go-off if motion is detected inside the car when parked?

3. I ll like to have a CD-Changer(6-10) installed. Is this possible to co-exist with the DVD already installed? And what CD-Changer is recommended?

4. I receive gladly any advice on how to use the car well (ie do's and dont's).

I ve been combing the X5world website for sometime now,"facinating", I just joined yesterday. Its nice to linkup with people around d world over common interests. Keep it up guys!

I hope I ve not asked for too much. Please bear with me. Its all new experience for me.

Thanks a million in advance.

Best regards to all

Welcome.

I don't believe it is possible, without dealer intervention, to adjust anything on the alarm. So to make the changes you'd like, you'll need to contact a dealer.

As for the changer, use the search engine on this site and you should find some resources.

Welcome.

When you lock the car with your key, the internal motion sensors come on. If you want to lock the car without putting on the motion sensors, you have to press the BMW logo on the key twice. This is useful for example if you leave a pet in the car.
I don't think you can trigger the alarm with a loud sound.
As for the do's and dont's - just take your time and read through the site.

You can...there's a sound sensor, mostly to detect windows breakage. Try sitting in your car an arm the alarm, then yell out loud. The alarm should then go off.

Isn't that due to the motion sensors?

It's a simple test. You can yell out loud without making too much movements, can't you? ;)

Thanks guys... I ve tried it. I locked my daugther inside and have waved at her. Immediatly she raised her hand, the alarm went off. v. cool.

However, the sound test I ll try. But it seams to me that the alarm is only programed for motion detection
