Having problems after replacing a new battery.
I bought a Duralast group 49 battery from AutoZone. The car, 2001 BMW X5 4.4 liter, started behave very strange. First, I see DSC, ABS and Brake lights on instrument cluster. It goes away after I start driving. I hear some unusual noise under the hood for couple minutes after start. Finally, the car might stop engine running while I am driving. All it happened after I replaced battery. I heard this battery should be a good fit, but now I totally confused. Any ideas what this can be? Can battery causing all these problems? Any advice is highly appreciated.

Mine did the same thing after a battery swap. Everything "reset" after a few minutes of running. Give it a few minutes of idling and it should be ok.

Like most of us, I saw the lights, but they cleared after
a turn key/pause/boot up re-start...I heard no noises. I can't think of any underhood noise induced by a batt. swap. I would rec'd putting your newly installed batt on a slow trickle charge tonight to bring it fully, but slowly up to full charge. GL, mD |
Don't forget the "steering wheel over both ways trick"

It a selftest feature after the computer lost it power. It needs to reset itself by turn the steering all the way to left and right before drive and after the engine started up.

Thank you to all. It makes sense now. It was really strange to experience and it is working good now. I didn't turn the steering all the way to left and right. Should I disconect battery and do it or it will be ok now? thanks again.

FYI... you must not completely disconnect the X5 from battery power. When changing the battery a booster battery should be hooked up under the hood. Removing the battery without doing so is the same as unplugging your computer to turn it off.
