Winshield Washer Leak - Question

Hi,

I have a 2001 X5 3.0. There is a slow windshield washer leak. I've localized it to the pump on the front lower area of the washer tank. There are drops accumulating on the area that connects the hose to the pump.

There is a small black plastic clamp where the drops accumulate - does anybody know the part number for this? BMW couldn't find it on their diagrams.

Thanks

I had this same leak - ended up that it would drain the tank and throw up the message on the dash. I think I ended up using silicone to seal up the leak and have not had any issues since.

Thanks I'll try that

forget the black plastic clamp that came with it, i used the taplon tape and the small metal clamp at autozone ( $ 2 ) and it fixed

Thanks - I had a leak in two areas. There is a hose connected to a plastic sleeve and the plastic sleeve then connects to the reservoir. I put a metal clamp around the hose-plastic sleeve connection which stopped that leak and now the only leak is where the plastic sleeve inserts into the reservoir where this plastic clip/clamp is. I removed the plastic clip and tried putting a small metal clamp in that area and it wouldn't hold very well because of the shape of the area. Did you remove the original plastic clip before putting the metal clamp on?

It may be the strainer / seal where the pump is inserted into the reservoir. Part number #61667006063 for a few dollars may solve the problem.

Thanks. I ended up using some rubber like water hose tape called "magic tape" and it seems to have worked.
