Man these parts are dear in S.Africa |
All to common I'm afraid. The "parts" are not cheap anywhere.

Mparker, whereabout are you located?
What is the total dent in your pocket - and this was a petrol engine right? Not so many petrols in this country as you have no doubt noticed. Sorry to hear...... |
Based in Cape Town . Took the vehicle to Triangle transmission.....stealer reccomended repairt shop. They reckon sprag, actuator and clutch pack on 1st gera needs to be replaced.
About to set me back 20k....... You right 3.0l are the rarest in S.A but according to many reviews it's the best bang for buck....or have i been misled ? |
The E53, 3.0d are the most popular here, less so are the 3.0i, 4.4i and 4.8is (very seldom see a 4.6i). But there are good deals on the E53 4.8is now, and more people are buying used now. I had one of the few 3.0i in a manual originally, great car & great drive!
Hope you get sorted out and on the road again. Cheers, |

In the future, don't buy a BMW with 75,000 miles on the clock when you get it without an extended warranty  |
