heated rear seats

hi all does anyone no if i can retro fit heated rear seats to my 2001 3.0d i have the fuse in the boot so was thinking if it would work thanks paul

it's possible. getting the pads under the leather isn't that much work. i've also seem third party products for a very reasonable price and was thinking of doing this myself.
but the main hassle is getting the wiring done especially if you want to put the switches in the stock location.

hi thanks, how come it is so hard to get them switches in place they have got to be some where back there the fuse is in the boot so that must mean the wiring is in place right might be wrong tho. one more do you no what the plugs are in my boot i have two small black ones in the left hand side and two blue ones both side thanks for your help

sorry but i don't know what plugs are in the boot. i also have quite a few back there and have given up trying to figure out what they're for.
on the top of this page is "Online WDS" which is a wiring diagram for the entire car. it's a bit complicated to figure out but once you do, it's extremely informative.

If your car is equipped with any of the following, then you have the harness in place for the rear seat heating (you still need the relays, the switches, the heating pads or the seats with pads installed)...

SA 522
SA 220
SA 536
SA 533
SA 496 (heated rear seats, you don't have it)
Sa 461
SA 265
Sa 261
SA 248

at least this is what the BMW manuals claim...

Has anyone found a good place to buy just the heating elements/pads that can be spliced or wired directly into the stock wiring?

I'm new to this forum (but have been active on other forums since 1996) so I hope the links below are allowed:
