old school BMW logic applies here so I am not sure if this will clear the X5 ECU but it is always worth a try:
On the e32 seven series sme used to clear their transmission errors by disconnecting both battery cables, turning the ignition all the way to the run position and then touching the two DISCONNECTED battery cables to each other. This supposedly will drain any residual current saved in any capacitors within the system that might be saving system memory. This was after pulling the main relay disconnecting only one battery cable , removing the ECU from the harness ect. Like I said, old school, but it worked for the electrically intensive e32. |
