Fuel Injector Replacement DIY
It's been a very cold day here in Kansas City and my wife called to say that our 2003 4.4 X5 is on a neighborhood street NOT RUNNING. There is a heavy fuel smell inside and I see liquid on the ground directly below the engine which I'm pretty sure it is fuel. I've read some threads that mention a leaky fuel injector.
http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...=Fuel+Injector Does anyone have any direction and pictures of how to remove / replace a fuel injector? Any other ideas? |
I don't think it's the injector. it's the o-ring.
have it towed back home. then maybe you can see where it's leaking if you remove the plastic engine cover. it's held on with 3 or 4 nuts. |
Have it towed to Baron, or a local shop that works on Bmw's. Autpoia is pretty good. 913-894-2000. I know KC Auto sport is also familiar with Bimmers..Have one of these places look at it...

Wasn't a fuel injector but the fuel line

The small quick connector ended up breaking free in the cold weather. I took the truck over to EuroFix in Merriam, KS. The hose is going to take about three weeks get as it needs to come from Germany :(. Sal at Eurofix got us by with a temporary fix. See Posted Pictures.

Hmmm...the temporary fix seems more secure than the quick connect type hose.
