Real World MPG 2006 4.8is???
Guys
I MAY be getting back into an X5. Greg was right ;) My last X5 was a 03 4.6is. The MPG's were not great. How does the 4.8 with the newer engine tech do on gas? I search the forums and found nothing really conclusive. TIA |
I don't have exact figures, as I don't pay to much attention with mine. But to put it simply, I find it to be just fine on the freeways, but its horrible in the city.

I have 30,000 km on my 2006 4.8is, and it has averaged 14.6 litres/100 km since new. I use it around town, slow highways (80 km/hr limits) and express highways (100 km/hr limits). Best I have done is 9.8 litres/100 km.
basically I am happy with the fuel economy. Don't forget it is a big heavy full time 4 wd truck! John John You will have to do the conversions, but basically I am happy with the fuel econ |
From what I read it is lighter than the 03 4.6is by a HUGE 47lbs ;)
