Rear hatch rattle... I think....

I keep hearing a bit of a rattle whenever I go over the uncountable NYC potholes and bumps. But when I check the back everything seems secure and nothing seems loose.

And while I'm driving I can't pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from since it is behind me... I unfortunately don't have daredevil like hearing sensors...

Any had something similar? Or an idea of could be loose in the back?

It has to do with adjusting the bumper stops.

Mine did it for about 100 miles until I discovered the spare tire retaining bolt was loose.

Problem fixed now.

Another one that has gotten me before...do you have bolts on the top AND bottom of your license plate? If you don't and if you have a license plate holder, the thing will rattle all the time!
