Towing 3500-4500lbs with 3.0si X5

Is anyone in this forum towing a boat or trailer of 3500-4500lbs?
If so do you find the 3.0si has enough power to tow it or do you need a 4.4 or 4.8? Thinking of buying a 2006 or 2007 X5. Any hints are appreciated...:thumbup:
