Dinan Engine software + Free Flow Exhaust?

Hi all,
Finally comfortable with my '03 X5 4.4 sport to start contemplating some mods. (42k miles)
Anyone here on Long Island running the Dinan Engine software?
Anyone do the Free Flow exhaust? I'd like to hear it if possible. Also one person on bimmerfe$t said they developed a vibaration/ drone at 60mph with this.
These seem like easy intro steps, and the CAI and Throttle body could be done later. I'm leery of the CAI because I sometimes go off road (beach and such) I thnk that mod would lead to disaster.
Any input or suggesstions would be helpful

I've got the following Dinan mods on my 2006 4.4i:

Cold Air Intake
Throttle Body
Free Flow exhausts
Stage 3 Engine software

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the mods. Unfortunately, they don't have Dinan transmission software for the 2004-2006 models. So on sporadic occasions, my tranny will get confused when I gun the gas pedal to the bottom from a standing start when the steering wheel is turned. The car will buck and is unable to get in gear. This happens only when I'm turning (steering wheel turned more than 20 degrees) and going from a standing start. Like say, if you're on the side of the road and want to do a turning merge and accelerate rapidly. It will not do this on a straight acceleration.

I have had my Dinan guy here in NJ take another look at it. They were able to reproduce the problem I described, and they said it "may" be a function of the DSC and the steering wheel angle not keeping up with the imporved throttle response, if that makes any sense  . They said to try and turn off the DSC and see if the problem goes away. I never bothered to do that, because it's such an infrequent "bug" I decided I can live with it. I just know not to gun the gas pedal 100% down during a turning start.

This may not be an issue at all on 2003 and earlier models, for which there is the Dinan transmission software.

As far as performance, you definitely feel more kick, mostly above 5000 rpm. It's particularly useful during a passing maneuver, when you need to go from say 60 to 80 in a hurry. You won't confuse it with a turbo or supercharger, but it's definitely more responsive than the stock exhaust/intake/software. Since they don't have tranny software for myyear, I'm pretty much done with my Dinan mods. The only thing I might come back for is the strut tower brace.

Any of you guys do this? It doesnt say much about the 4.8is it just says 4.8 X5's. and then it doesnt say what the gains are. I would be interested if they talked about what exactly they do for the 4.8is.

why don't you just send an email to them?

the throttle response is much more crisp and the power comes on much stronger..

my 03 4.6 takes my neighbors 06 4.8 from the line all the way up to 100 by about 2 car lenths !!

well recommennded in my book !!

Wuzin the reason I dont is if they cant put the gains on the website it doesnt seem worth the effort for me to email them. Before I dump $3k into my truck I want to know the gains are worth the cash. In my experience with a Porsche twin turbo, and 2 Porsche GT3s and spending some considerable money modding all three of those cars-all those tuners sites have the dyno charts on the websites. Its easy to see which tuner I want to start a dialouge with. I have heard alot of good things about Dinan. But seriously if they want me to engage I need to know how significant my expenditures are. The basic info on a tuners website seems to me is power and torque gains.
Does that make sense or am I bieng lazy?
