New Kid on the Block

Hey x5world I finally decided to join I have a 2003 X5 4.6is and I love it. I've been lurking on here a while stealing valuable information and doing minor upgrades to the truck with the stuff I learned on here. You guys are great, a wealth of information in this forum. So anyway some of the mods I've done so far; upgraded the NAV, painted my calipers, and tinted my tail lights. I'm currently installing 2 9" headrests monitors I took out of my Audi A8 and removing all the trim and center console so I can paint it. I've taken many pictures of my interior dismantled and will post some tonite and the rest sometime tomorrow to help with some of the tutorials on here. Anyway rambled enough enjoy the pics:thumbup:

Autozone has all colors of caliper paint available that withstands heat up to 500 degrees. Get a can of that and a can of clearcoat spray paint from autozone as well, follow the caliper removal tutorial and you're good to go. I did mine in the summer so it dried pretty quick but it still took me all day to finish between painting and beer breaks:thumbup:

rastaFarai 02-09-2008 09:36 PM

nice!!! Sounds like a summer job!!

Yup I'm currently painting trim red, I'm doing the interior like my old car that's where the tvs came from.

Nothing if you're 70 and driving a boat or a 1969 Chrysler Newport

rastaFarai 02-10-2008 02:12 PM

Please don't do that to a X5:bawling: we all know that it's your ride and you can do what you would like with it. But I believe you posted to get some feedback on your 4.6is. Well, this is my feedback ...Don't do it:trustme: ...Phil

First of welcome and nice 4.6, but please stop the mod madness before it's too late. The 4.6 is too nice to paint the interior trim red. :chair:

I beg you to remove the smoked out tail light covers, the steering wheel cover, and PLEASE for the love of God, buy an OEM trim kit for the interior of this car. The steering wheel cover and tail light covers are easy enough to remove, but this red trim is just a bad idea. I like the headrests, though.

:iagree:
So you started with a perfect car, changed the seat leather, changed tail lights, changed the roof liner from alcantara to cream beige, and now the trim.

Let me put your avatar here. :jk:

Very interesting choice of mods. Stand by: X54.4blue (our resident mod critic) may provide you with his take on your efforts. In the mean time......

motordavid 02-10-2008 07:41 PM

Ah, unique choice of mods...

What is going on with the front seatback stripped away?
Are those going to be hidey holes or, control room monitor/panels
for the rest of the gizmos?

And, welcome to The X Board.
Good luck...mD

blueagle 02-10-2008 09:08 PM

Welcome dude. All I can say is that I like the imola red X5 color and Style 87 rims.........Other mods I leave it up to the experts in this forum.

Juanted 02-10-2008 10:21 PM
