Check Engine Soon and Remote not working after Jump Start
My X5 was sitting for about 30 days and the battery died.I then jumpstarted the battery. Now the unlock button on the remote and console unlock button are not working. ( The truck button on the remote works). After filling up the tank now the check engine soon light comes on. Do you guys think these two problems are due to the battery jump becuase before the long lay off by not using the x everything was fine. What can i do to resolve these problems? Thanks in advance

The check engine light is likely related to your gas cap being loose rather than a flat battery. If that is it, putting the gas cap on properly will cause the light to self-reset after a while.
The unlock problem may be related to the jumpstart. If it is both the remote and the button inside that don't work, suspect you have a problem not related to the remote. |
Thaks for your response jcl. Before i jump start the car the remote and center console lock worked. Do you think it might be a shock to the electrical system after the jump start. Also my gas cap click just once barley. I remember it used to click multiple time while i turn it.

Take the cap off, ensure there is nothing in the way to prevent it seating, and put it back on. If it doesn't seem normal, you may need a new cap. If it isn't sealing properly, the SES light can come on due to the sensor in the evaporative emission control circuit (meaning you are letting gas fumes into the atmosphere). |
