I noticed that a lot of the folks that picked the 2006 4.8is did so with the caveat that it should be CPO. I have to second that. I honestly don't know if I would risk an eBay non-CPO with that big of a cash outlay.
At the very least you should get the VIN# and get the service history from BMW. It should be in their database. That way you can see if it's been serviced on a regular basis, as well as check for show-stoppper problems (engine, tranny). There's also another company where you can use the VIN# to check the accident history. I forget their website. It's a beast of a vehicle, but do your homework! |

Interesting point. I am about to purchase a used 2006 X5 from a private party. The X5 has less than 20K miles and still has the remainder of the factory warranty. I got it inspected by the local BMW dealer and it passed their point inspection (i was told it is the same as the inspection done for CPO). Is it possible to buy an extended warranty for the X5 if i am not the original owner?

only the original owner can purchase the extended warranty. CPO is different and must be done by a dealership. but, the warranty is transferable |

Anyway, my X5 is ordered at 3% over invoice... Black Sapphire SADDLE BROWN interior Dark Walnut trim |
I would have waited and ordered the e70 with the new TBed V8. ITs gonna have some serious power.
