Re-Coding Car with BMW Scanner

Latest BMW Scanner results

I recently purchased a copy of BMW Scanner 1.4.0 from the original author for US$ 1280. The package comes with a USB to OBD-II connector and the software. It is simply fantastic, so much improved over the 1.3.6 version. Please be assured I personally have nothing to do with this product, I am simply a user who is suitably impressed and felt it worth sharing my experience.

For everyone who wishes to (re-)code their car this is the answer for example:

(1) Re-code all the lighting system, Xenon to Non-Xenon etc, no more relays, resistor packs etc etc. Re-code the bulb warm up sequence (value 72 for Xenon and 22 for Halos)

(2) Re-code the key memory functions

(3) Re-code navigation systems and TV on the move (no more kits)

and many more....

It is particularly good for replacement modules, pick these up secondhand and re-program and re-code and off you go.

Here are some screen shots from my car, I turned off key memory, dynamic Xenon adjustments and a few other things along the way, you can read the config, save it, alter it and of course restore the old settings, this software can do things that the dealer can't.

If anyone lives in The Netherlands and wishes to have some re-coding done please contact me.

Here is the URL for the web site: http://www.bmw-scanner.com/?lang=eng

I simply ordered it through the web.

Replies to above questions!

You are all welcome to come by! But it is a long way! and no it is not Carsoft 6.5, I had a copy of this and it is useless by comparison, slow, no re-coding, etc. The new BMW scanner version is really good, all the error codes are correct etc etc,

Geoff.

bmw scanner 1.4, help

hello, i have already the scanner1.36 and would be very greatfull if you can send me the software of 1.4 so i will test it before purchase the whole package. my personel email is: [email protected]
thanks

allisong 07-21-2008 05:21 AM

I am afraid it would not help if I sent it you as it needs a completely new USB interface with encryption chip when compared to 1.36. If you open the program without it being connected you get nowhere, regards, Geoff.

Just wondering what are the main advantages of this scanner that worth the US$1200?

jamie392 04-28-2009 01:13 AM

Please please tell me that this tool doesn't allow people to just easily adjust there odometer reading. I'm looking for an x5 and really don't want that on the back of my mind. I believe the reading is also stored in the key right, and this tool should not be able to modify that and hopefully it can't modify any of the values in the truck especially not the cluster.

Dear mkanaan,
I just bought the scanner 1.3.6 like you have. I was scanning my car, and it showed some error (1st time using this). And then I did the reset the program of my car. Now the Iddle goes up to 900 rpm at park, driving very rough now. Do you know how to setup the program or restore my original setting from dealer?
Please give me advise

I just bought a scanner 1.36v. Do you know how to upgrade to 1.4

cooluserid 10-14-2010 08:22 PM

BMW scanner V1.4 experience

I just received BMW scanner V1.4 (software version 1.4.0.7 – current from the P.A. website). It was ordered from Ebay for $80. Took a while to understand how to correctly install drivers (INF file needs a minor correction). It helped to diagnose and resolved my issues with LCM nicely.
One issue I noticed that gets me worried about quality of the software: Aux. ventilation is set to 35:16:00 (in place of time) right after initial scan of the modules.

Negritoamni 10-14-2010 08:50 PM

Is this tool the alternate to the GT1 DIS/SSS scanner? What can it do different from the SSS program the dealer uses? I have a GT1 which I am learning how to use. Still have alot of questions...Great tool, but your scanner sounds easier to use.

cooluserid 10-14-2010 09:11 PM

Many tasks can be accomplished easily with this tool. There are many options that were not clear to me yet easily accessible. I have no experience with GT1 other then reading DIY instructions here. This tool seems easier and less safe.

I recently go BMWScanner 1.4 and have managed to do a good number of things I wanted to my X5.

One thing I just can't seem to get to work is the Key memory, even though I have enabled it with the scanner. How do you get the damn seat to move on either the remote or when you open the door?

Also what does 'Auto int' mean for keys, I have one the same yes and another key that say no?

Roland 01-29-2011 12:26 PM

Hello,
I just bought one of these scanner 1.4.0; not easy to install the drivers!
Could someone explain how you can access the re-coding pages for lights, aux-heater (IKE coding) ...
Many thanks!

dirtymonkey29 01-29-2011 12:50 PM

Can you enable aux heating? Is it the same as the £70 kit on eBay?

I don't know yet since I still wonder how to reach the IKE Coding page where I should be able to activate it.

it's a kit from China but supposed to have all functions available.

Nik 02-08-2011 08:58 AM

Yes, My indy has this. It's a great thing. I turned off my Dailight lightning on E53, and put CONS to liters, instead of MPGs.

Help

When I connect and open the app, I get "error communicating with Ike" then "error communicating with ews" and not sure where to go from here...

Allstarsrd12 01-04-2012 05:38 PM

just a quick note for anyone having issues using the scanner, it must be plugged into both car and computer before launching the application. Then key on.

Can any kind soul explain the differences between

Daytime running lights EU/US1/US2?

I haven't found that answer in my searching. I assume one of them means low power highbeams...

the differernces are that i tested on my 06 us spec 3.0i
EU - uses the xenons at a lower level intensity
US1- uses xenons and turns off the angels eyes and uses turn signal lights
US2- the one i use turn on the halogens.

I'll take pics tommorow with the settings and upload it.

I also uploaded to rapid share the 64bit drivers for windows 7 for this scanner if anyone was interested.

any other questions let me know.

And for the seat memory and steering angle (LEW)we dont have that abillity to code with this scanner. Not unless you know the values.
All the reason why I am setting up a easy dis pc. just need a edibas/inpa cable.

brokenbmx06 06-28-2012 10:41 PM

Just to let everyone know. You can find the knockoff hardware much cheaper other places. The software can be downloaded from the PA Soft website. Great tool to help diag many problems, view, clear, and read codes and airbag lights. I have the exact same thing for my e46 running on windows Vista 64bit. There is a very comprehensive thread over on bimmer formus about this. If you diy your own car this is a GREAT tool to have.

Thanks Mate, it works now.

I got ripped off by getting the ebay version, which is of course only the demo from PA soft. Should have known it was too good to be true.
