Convenience entry question..
 

I have an 05 3.0.

The steering column only tilts up away from the seat when you put it in Park to create space for exiting the car. It does not tilt in like my Range Rover (i.e. both tilts up and in).

Is this a malfunction? What does your steering column do when exiting.

mine tilts up, down, in & out. Try to run a search, I thought I read it somewhere here about this issue in the past.

yea i'm pretty sure mine goes up and in when getting out.

if i recall, earlier X5s tilted and telescopically got out of the way for egress.

but the telescope feature wore down the motor (as it did in mine), so they're reprogrammed to only tilt out of the way.
