e70 wheels on e53?
e70 wheels on e53?
|
Try a search on that I think there was a thread about this before.
|
these wont fit the e53 without modification.
|
I thought they are the same size as the 4.6 twenties. They should fit

Hi just put some 2007 on by 2003 x5. You will need to get some hub rings. I thing they where 70.1 to 76.1 Tommy
|
tamaros that set up looks pretty nice. But would the 2007 4.8 wheels fit with the hub rings?
|
not sure but these people helped me , and i got the hub rings from them...
Please call Beckie at (858) 444-6096 www.bluestarbmwwheels.com Tommy |
this should probably be moved to the wheel section

E70 uses PCD5x120 centre bore 74.0mm and M14x1.25 bolt thread.
E53 has PCD5x120 centre bore 72.5mm and M14x1.5 bolt thread. If you adjust for the bore size with hub centric rings, you should be good, otherwise not gonna work. |
That is the hottest wheel ive seen for the e53!!!

convert the bore /how much did it cost
i want to the same thing

Here's the thread and info
I just dealt with this same issue b/c I bought dealer take-off 18's from an E70 to use as a snow set up on an E53 and got the answers in the thread below.
The E70 wheels have a slightly larger bore size than the wheels for the E53 so you will need hub centric rings to make them fit perfectly. Doc from the Tire Rack wrote: E70 74.1 E53 72.6 The difference is 1.5mm, so that's the thickness you will need for the hub centric rings to make the E70 rims fit your E53 hubs. Here's the original thread, it started as a thread by jobaker4 about 18" wheel fitment on the 4.6 and 4.8, and then on page 2 it gets into your question. The name of the thread is: "18" rims will NOT fit on 4.8is" Link: http://www.xoutpost.com/tire-rack-tir...ight=bore+size |
All right, so i was thinking about the double spoke 239 wheel set for my 05 3.0
thanks |
Hey guys would wheels which have and offset of 45 fit on an x5. They are beryern wheels. 19"x9.5" and an offset of 45. Will it work?
|
A Search would have turned up the wheel site below:
http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ Click on "Alle" drop down menu and take a look at any/all of the E53 wheels: there are many styles with offset right in the 40s. Whether your specific aftermkt wheels will fit is not known by me. But, the offset is in the ballpark. Many prefer a staggered look in 19"/20", but diff'n strokes. GL,mD |
I'll lok into the stagered setup but would it matter if i got wheels with offset of 45?
|
Quote:
It shows nearly every oem style wheel, with specs, for X5s... If you looked, you will have noticed that most wheels are in the 40s for offset. Do the arith. Staggered are simply an aesthetic choice. |
I know i saw the site but I was asking if it would still fit and i guess you dont know.
|
Quote:
Will they probably fit: with the 45 offset that you state, yes, as that is right in "the middle" of most E53 wheels; that was my point of offering up a very good site with wheel specs. Other than that, which is plain to be gleaned in the site you obviously spent < 20 seconds perusing, I'll pass on anymore of this thread or, your questions. |
I looked at it again and if im correct does the part where it says ET aand then the number have to do with offset? If so I get what your saying. I loked at it for a while before but never noticed that. I checked again looked harder and found that.

Just to update the thread... here is the e70 18" Style 210 wheel (8.5 x 18 et 46) on a 4.4 e53. Fit perfectly with hub centric rings and looked great.
So in short all e70 18 wheels should fit the e53's excluding the 4.8 with the bigger brakes. The only 18" wheel that will fit the e53 4.8 is the Style 99 e53 wheel because of the aggressive 40mm offset (18 x 8 et40). The photo is right after we jacked up the car so it hasn't settled down yet. |

I have E70 replicas on mine. I think they are 214s? Could be wrong though. They are 20 x 9.5 and 10.5 respectively, not 20 x 10 and 11 as the E70 originals are I think.
I love them as everyone seems to get the 4.6 style wheels, so they are a little different. |
BTW, nevermind the Atturos, I'm waiting on my Continentals to be shipped from Tirerack, there is a back order.....
|
Won't work - don't do it... :D

Milsy, Do you have any more shots of your truck with those E70 Replicas? Maybe from the side? IT LOOKS SWEET! Where did you get them from and how much? I have an '06 4.8is and it came with the stocks chromed...I hate it. Way too flashy for my taste.

Hope these help, can take some more if you need.
|
That is one sexy wheel! I meant from the side looking down though...like from the front headlight looking down the side of the truck towards the back of the truck and vice versa...i'm checking out the "poke" on the wheel.
|
thanks for the quick reply though!

With mine without extended flares, they are flush at the rear and the front from memory.

Here is a shot from an '05 3.0 with 21" X6 Wheels I mounted.
They looked amazing |
Yeah very nice, how wide is are the wheels? Still 21x10.5/9.5?
Looks different, I like it. |

hey Milsy
im in brisbane and considering getting the same wheels from Tempe tyres so you were happy with the deal and the quality of the product, did you use your original BMW centre cap and wheel bolts they offer to provide new ones, but are thay the same?? thanks |
Ameritrades,
Did you have to do anything with the wheels or just mount them and go? What are the prices on that rear tire? 21x11.5!?!? Good God man! That's what I have on my Supra but in 20"!!! |
Quote:
All the 21" X5 & X6 OEM's come with the Dunlop Sport Maxx DSST Run Flats and the rears are over $500 a piece... ouch! |
So to confirm, 21' oem x5/x6 (staggered) wheels will fit an e53 4.8 with a hub ring 74.1-72.56. Correct?

In order for me to run standard E70 18's wheel, i will need to buy 4 x 74.0mm Hub Centric Ring? Nothing else? Thanks again. |

So all E70 will have 74.0mm Hub Centric Ring whether it's 18' or 19'?
I got hold of 4 rings, what is the main purpose of these rings? Do they have to carry any load at all or just for fitment purpose? Thanks |

-Will have to recall the physics of rotational loads; I might have been asleep in class, for that part. I think they act like a compressible 'coaster' or 'washer', if that translates. A brief link below, not hugely informative. JCL and the other mavens may have a better definition. GL, mD How Hub Centric Rings Work - JustForWheels.com |
Ok, i've got hold of 4 x 18x8.5 2010 E70 rims and tyre.
Any one has a a guide/photo of how to replace the old Hub rings and put the new one on? Also problem is .... my spare tyre will still be an E53 wheel, although all 4 tyres on the E70 wheel i've got now are Run Flat but still, eventually sometime down the track i will need to use my spare tyre and how is this going to work? :) |
You need to put the hub centric ring onto your 72.6mm wheel hub, and then put the new wheels on. You cannot replace the wheel hub with 74.1mm wheel hub.
|
Quote:
Your current/oe spare wheel tire combo should still fit right on your existing 72 mm hubs. Rotationally, it should be very close to those E70 wheels; close enough to get you home/service, etc. GL, mD |
Ok thanks. Any DIY guide available or it's as easy as ABC, sorry i'm yet to look into this :).

small advise,
would 18" Styling 131 8,5x18 will fit on E53 4.8IS or need modifications? thanks |
The BMW Style 99 wheel listed is listed as the "winter" wheel for the e53 4.8is and it is an 8x18 w/40mm offset wheel. I'm sure that the e53's Style 131 wheel that is 8.5x18 w/48mm offset shouldn't present an issue.
The extra 1/2" width and 8mm offset difference falls within range of the e53 wheel's specs. You should also see that 18" winter tire sizes are listed on your drivers' door jamb tire pressure chart and in the owners manual. http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/q...3%20Update.jpg |
thanks ;)

Also diving into the E70 wheel setup on my 4.4i Sport. Here's a video I uploaded today with a test fit of the style 334 19''x9'' new E70 wheel:

5 thread pitch? Is this the bolt that attaches the wheel, so you need to change hubs as well? |
Quote:
Hub centric rings only and since you're using the same lug bolts in the same holes (just different rims) you don't have to worry about the thread pitch. Sent from my SM-A730F using Tapatalk |
Thanks, there's so many more E70 wheels and barely any E53
I found a set of 18 inches, 2 sets of 20 and one set of 22 inches. 22 look the best but don't even know if they'd fit. But these look so cool :) https://i.ibb.co/njhY6Q9/ad-1657305313116.jpg https://i.ibb.co/X8V29ZB/ad-1657305319396.jpg https://i.ibb.co/gJQyYVy/ad-1657305294600.jpg https://i.ibb.co/93NpDLx/ad-1657305281352.jpg |
Larger you go with, the stiffer/crappier ride you will feel while driving. Be forewarned.

I did some digging and 20 inches is the max.
Maybe 22 is possible, not sure. I decided to go with 18 inches. It's the second picture from the top. Apparently these wheels came off E90, and then were on 2008 E70. I don’t understand how, given the hub is bigger on E70 But if they're in face from E90 with 72.56 diameter, would they work on E53? At this point I think it's only the offset I'd have to worry about. If they fit when I try them on is that fine, or do I have to worry about anything else. |

I guess based on this chart the difference in offset between E53 and E90 is insignificant.
|
Ran 22" Breyton Magic Super on the E53 circa 2010... god those wheels were cool. Yes they fit. Ride however, is a different story. Im on 20's now, with tires that barely fit.
|
I got 18 rims, so I'll put the biggest tires I can on 8 inch rim, 235 65 18
And by biggest I mean the tallest, as the wheels look really small on the vehicle |

I have 18x8 with 255/55-R18 tyres on Style 131 - looks pretty decent to my eye. I'd like to run 25mm spacers on the rear to step them out a little but the legislative issues make it not worth the hassle... https://i.ibb.co/WcvMcwL/2005-X5-E53-exterior.png |
