How to get rear window shades that weren't pre-installed?
Greetings - we have a 2001 X5 that our newborn throughly enjoys riding in. Ours didn't come with the cold weather package that has the stock rear door shades that cover both windows in left and right doors. All the suction cup aftermarket ones never come close to filling the windows and look silly. We are getting the BMW rear quarterpanel and back sunscreens to limit the ambient light, but we really want stock looking parts for the rear door windows as well.
I'm not considering the replacement parts (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...51&hg=51&fg=50), since $800 for both doors isn't realistic. Any suggestions what to get or home grown solutions? Thanks! Rick |
Ceramic tint.
Don't get me wrong, my wife and I love the shades (we also have a newborn) but to retrofit is crazy $$$ considering stick on are $5 at WalMart. Ceramic tint will give you privacy and massive heat rejection...much better than the shades. |
the answer is..., you can't - maybe by replacing the doors with ones that already have the screens - too much labor, too many new parts to retrofit your doors

I wouldn't say you can't but you won't like the cost. But as folks around here say..... If you throw enough money at it you can get er done.....:nanana:
