Radio Code?
All of my other BMWs had a card with the radio code and I just noticed I do not have any info for my 01 X5. I have all other documentation, but no radio code. It has the 16X9 MK3 NAV. Should I call the dealer or is the factory deck codeless? Thanks.

Call you BMW dealer and just give your VIN ,engine , and chassis no. They can simply pull out the radio code from their computer.

I dont think you need any radio code ,because I disconnect the battery many times and I never had to put in a code .

Any update on this? A friend has an 01 4.4i and replaced his radio unit w/ DSP with an OEM unit and it displays CODE. They disconnected/reconnected the battery to no avail.
What do you guys think? |
every radio is VIN coded to that vehicle , you will need to get the dealer to code the radio to your vehicle .

Some models does, but i never heard you need one for X5. I have installed 16:9 screens on my 2003 330i and 325i and X5 but never had to deal with any code. Let me ask you, have you disconnected your battery before? Changed battery? If you did and never had to enter a code, then you dont even need it. And if you do, there are tools an companies who can retrieve, change or modify codes. Click here for one company.

The CODE selection on the Nav screen has nothing to do with your radio. It's an extra start protection device. Check your manual.
