park distance control connector location?

Am attempting to install a trailer hitch on our 2004 4.4 X5. Once of the first things to do is disconnect the park distance control connector and push through some hole. Can't find the hole from either inside the car or from underneath and don't know which connector it is? Some help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't quite understand why you need to do this to install the hitch but here goes: Look inside the compartment on the passenger side where the rear fuse panel is located. The wire for the rear PDC should be inside at the bottom, below the tail light wires. It comes in from there from the outside and goes in to the spare tire area where the PDC control unit is located.

Kevin,
The entire bumper has to come off which means one must disconnect the park distance control wire so the bumper will come off. I found the connector before your reply. Others that have done the hitch install said the connector was on the left, that was throwing me. I now have everything off that needs to come off and am about to begin the install.

Oh yes. My mistake. Glad to hear it has worked out so far. Also glad to hear you got those big Torx bolts off. Good luck with the rest of the job.

Job is done and roughly $500 I didn't have to give the dealer. Instructions from previous hitch installers were correct except for the location of the park distance control connector. Mine was on the right and theirs was on the left. It took every bit of 7 hours to do what with all the unbolting then putting it all back together. Of course the 55 TORX bolts were a pain but I found some the plastic rivits to be as bad.
