How to remove headrest to install headrestscreen??

Hi guy's!
My X5-2003 has the electric headrest that moves up and down. I want to buy a headrestscreen and it comes completely with headrest and the bars that goes down into the seat.

http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/1...ton0001vh2.gif

My question:
How will this effect the factory mounted electric headrest? Can I just "pull" it off and insert the new headrestscreen? Will the electric movement still be working? And how do I actually remove it?

Hope somebody can answer me!!
Thanks in advance!

Update:
I've ordered the kit! So hopefully it will work - or I just have to sell it...

Feedback is still wanted though... :nanana:

I don't believe you can replace the headrests in Comfort Seats. Hopefully someone else can confirm this.

Check with Lawrence at Invision. He probably could tell you. Going by his posts, he knows anything and everything about DVD options in the X5.

Hey guy's! I just made a huge bummer! My headrest isn't actually electrical. So the fitting went without any hassle!

I'm now driving with my headrest screens and all the cabels are inside the backseat cover! :)

Thanks for all your help by the way....

X5 Meister 03-15-2008 01:08 PM

Good for you. How about some pictures of your setup??? I don't know how many people have heard of the "Baton" DVD headrest system (I know I haven't) but I'm sure we'd like to see how they look in the X5. I went to their website and did some reading though. It's interesting that each headrest has a set of speakers in it, which honestly I find pretty weird.

Why do you find that weird? The sound is actually pretty good - stereo mode! And the wireless headset is great!!

I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Got it all working today... ;)

I'm not sure - what is comfort seats? The seats are electrical, I have memory storing option and everything. The only thing is that the headrest isn't electrical but manual. Did that answer your question?

The system is nice, however i dont like bih headrests, and it would not work out with my comfort seats:), i have one central mounted screen (will post pic soon) that was the only place left (have panoramic to)

Well, frankly I seriously doubt the tiny little speakers above the screens on the headrests are anywhere as good as the speakers in the X5 itself. It's inconceivable to me that two rear seat passengers would be playing different movies and listening to the sound WITHOUT headphones. Given that case why not just have the sound come out of the BMW speakers and not some tiny little speakers with a very small amplifier? It appears you already have an Aux input in your rear center console. All you would have to do it connect the headrest sound to the aux input of your stereo, I think. Otherwise the headrests look good, but I think there are nicer options out there, though I have to say the way the screens rotate is very very cool.

Oh and by the way, looks like you have the standard seats and not the comfort seats since you don't have:
1. Lumbar support
2. Electrically operated headrests

Yes, well - the sound isn't as good as the DSP in the car, BUT, it's not bad either. It also comes with a wireless headphone and they are pretty good actually...
