'01 X5 Air Conditioner Question
Hi all;
I usually have my X5's AC between 1 and 4 bars of blower speed. At times, lets say about 30 - 45 minutes of driving, the front vents drop airflow considerably (if not completely). I then hit the max button and the flow improves but not as if I had run max from the start. Anyone experience this? I hope I have described my problem well enough!:confused: Thanks in advanced! its depending on how you set the temperature in the car.when the Ac reach to the TEMP you set it will drop airflow.

Thanks for the reply. I usually have driver's and
passenger's side always on 60 degrees. I'll experiment the next time it happens by lowering the windows to increase cabin temp and see if it restores airflow once the temp rises.:thumbup:

Have you replaced your Final Stage Resistor? That's always a good place to start with phantom fan problems.

Hmmm; Final Stage Resistor ...

Check the home page for a DIY.

Also, I find that the "auto" feature supplies insufficient fan power during some conditions, so increase the fan speed and/or select the zone you need the most effect - and check the vent direction which is often misdirected during carwashing

The final stage resistor may indeed be starting to fail. Does your blower act erratically like blowing strong and then slow down or stop for no obvious reason? If that is the case that would be the symptom of a failing final stage resistor. This is an easy fix.
