Metric Speedometer Head

I have purchased an 2005 American X5 which has both MPH & KPH speedometer head. The display shows the MPH in large numbers and the KPH in small numbers, I would like to reverse this or install a metric speedometer head.
The head shouldn't have anything to do with the actual mileage readout as it is digital and diplayed below. Has any Canadians changed their speedometer head?

I have a US car too.
I looked into swapping the gauges to Canadian ones. The problem is that BMW does not just sell the gauge inserts, you have to basically buy the whole cluster which is very expensive.
