Anyone add BMW Park Distance Control post-purchase?

They have three kits, but the two I'm interested in are the $299 license plate mounted system and the $425 rear bumper mounted system. I'm looking for any experience or impressions. I'm not crazy about the big black sensors on the 425 version so I'm thinking about doing the license plate mounted setup. If anyone on here has that option please let me know how it works (does it plug into existing harness(es)?) and how you like it.

Thanks!!!

I have the license plate kit and likes it very much (look at my installation tips on the home page...also take a look at the posted installation instruction to see if you can tackle such installation). If you have a black car like mine, the sensors are almost stealth (unlike the big black under-bumper mounted kit). The kit comes with it's own speaker, sensors, and control module, which taps into the reverse light for power and activation. Installation was pretty straight forward, but I must warn you before hand that it's a pain in the A$$ to fish the 2 sensor wires from the tailgate into the trunk floor (due to the rubber boot connecting the two) - this is the most difficult part of the installation.

The kit is working perfectly so far. It's not getting as great of a coverage on the sides since there are only 2 sensors in the middle, but you'll still get solid beep when you're 1 ft away from the wall backing in at 45 degrees (it'll start beeping at about 2-3 ft away).

Fantastic thanks for the great response. I've done quite a bit of involved installations in various BMWs, so I'm comfortable with the installation. I'll look at your home page and hold any other questions until I've read through it.

Thanks again for the response!

I have the sensors and like them.

I do not see much need for the front set, if I was adding them I would just do the back.

if you had nav(meaning a screen), would you still pick the PDC or opt for a camera?

I would pick both if I could. But given only one choice, I would still pick the PDC over the camera. The camera would be nearly useless in dark places and it's somewhat counter-intuitive since you have to look forward to see what's behind you.
