Adding Stereo Components

My husband wants to put a Pioneer AVIC N2 in our X5. I'm curious....will we lose ability to use the steering wheel controls, or is it possible to tie them in? Is there any issues we should be concerned about? Thanks in advance :)

Dear HL: Jes' wondering if you or your Hub have perused the Home Page compendium of topics, chock full of info?

Just click on a topic and give it a read.

Worth a read, imo. GL, md

I did look at some things, but perhaps I should give it a more thorough look through, thanks :)

Not only will you use the steering wheel controls, but you will also lose the On Board Computer info as well, including the ability to set the clock. Removing the stock radio/head unit is not a great idea. I don't know what that Pioneer unit is, so this post might be irrelevant. :)

You can use a converter made by PAC that will allow you to keep functions such as volume and track forward/back
