Electrical problem
 

I have a 2002 x5 3.0i and am having some strange electrical issues. The back right trun signal and brake light and left front turn signal do not work most of the time. On occasion, the turn signals will blink for about 20 seconds and then stop. Also, the left high beam does not work most of the time. When I bought the car, they put a new battery in. I have tried resetting the computer by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for an hour. Also, have checked all the bulbs and fuses and they are working. I tested the back tail light wires and am not get any power at the plug. Anyone have any other ideas before I take it to a shop? Thanks!!!

i had an issue with the high beam where it was stuck on, the high beam is evidently controlled with a shutter and there is a motor that powers the shutter. Evidently my motor had burnt out and it stuck the high beam on high. I am not sure if this could be part of your situation but figured I would just throw it out there!

Turn signal/brake light problems can be cured by applying high temperature CONDUCTIVE grease to the terminals.
Your model year does not have shutter high beams!! Try changing the bulb and see if it effects a cure.

Study the "Online WDS" drawings at the top of this page. If you can not open them do a "Search" for instructions. Trace the power back to the next connection in the light circuit. Check for power there and if there is power the problem is between the connection and the light. If there is no power keep tracing back until you have found the problem.This is what a reputable shop would do. Good luck

Yes! But start with the simple things first. You really will not like it if you have to have the #tealer do a LKM.
