help no power

Hi All,

was driving my 2003 x5 3.0d stopped at a set of lights, and then tried to move off and there was nothing, it was like the gear box had selected no gear :(. turned her off, waited about 5 mins and turned on again got the trans failsafe prog error come up and tried to pull away very little power, revs were going up but not much movement, if at all. managed to get her home, turned off then came back about 2 hours later. no warning on dashboard, but tried to reverse and nothing :( turned off again, then waitig 5 mins, tried again, no errors and no movement.

Thanks

Raj

Your gearbox just died on you. Time for a new one.

Hi All

it is a 3.0 diesel and has done 36000 miles, if it is the gearbox, why did it die when it has done only 36000 miles?

when the car die it doesn't have to be how many miles.same as humman some die at first born some die at 70s,80s,or at 100.

Well as everythinh else it deppends on how car was driven on those 36000 miles, how often and by who it was serviced, if it was used as a pul truck and so on. Those things are usualy more important then the actural miles on the clock.
